Mountain Area Radio Reading Service (MARRS)

MARRS mission is to link people who are blind, visually or print impaired to their Western North Carolina community through audio access to printed material.

The Mountain Area Radio Reading Service of Asheville, North Carolina is a radio reading service for individuals who are blind, visually or print impaired. Volunteers read local news and events from the Asheville Citizen-Times, the Mountain Express, the Black Mountain News, the Hendersonville Times-News and the Transylvania Times. Eligible individuals are issued special easy to operate radio units.

Readings from other publications include: The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and People magazine, among others.

MARRS broadcasts 24 hours a day 7 days a week via the sub-carriers of public radio stations WNCW-FM 88.7 and WCQS-FM 88.1 whose generous assistance is gratefully acknowledged.
